Georgia A. Kaspryk

Georgia A. Kaspryk, 53, Woodstock, died Friday Sept. 6, 2013, at Cancer Treatment Center of America,  Zion. She was born Aug. 27, 1960, in Libertyville to George and Arline (Wickman) Nawrot. She married John Kaspryk. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock.  She loved being with family and friends and she also loved to garden. Survivors include her husband, Woodstock; her parents; three sons, John, Justin and Jacob; a daughter, Olivia; two brothers, Robert (Josie) and David (Angela); two sisters, Rose (Don) Kolumbus and Anita (Lester) Wilson;  a niece, Amy; and numerous aunts and uncles. Visitation will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Grace Lutheran Church 1300 Kishwaukee Valley Road Woodstock. The

Gary Quamen

Gary Quamen, San Francisco, formerly of Woodstock, died Monday, July 8, 2013, after a long illness. He was born and raised in Woodstock. In 1968, he moved with his family to the San Francisco Bay Area. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Long Quamen; two sons, Eric Quamen and Ed Quamen; two daughters, Ann Engbrock Quamen and Hilary Clark; and Allan Quamen, Debra Blechle Quamen and Eleanor Kraft Quamen.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Rohl Quamen and Charlene Amborn Quamen. He is loved and will be greatly missed. Arrangements were made by Spencer Mortuary, Castro Valley, Calif.

Joseph “Joe” “Papa” Albert Flashing

Joseph “Joe” “Papa” Albert Flashing, 71, Woodstock, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 13, 1942, in Chicago to Joseph John and Gertrude Flashing. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Judy (Quinn) Flashing; a son, Joseph E. (Cindy) Flashing; three daughters, Jennifer (Phil) Heuck, Kathy (Tom) Manka and Karen (Dave) Holden; eight grandchildren, Joseph J. Flashing, Jazmin Flashing, Hannah Blakey, Emma Heuck, Katelyn Manka, Frank Manka, Alison Holden and Andrea Holden; a sister, Barbara (Dan) Burke; nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. 
Visitation was Aug. 29 and 30 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, Crystal Lake. A funeral Mass was Aug. 30

James Paul Jackson Sr.

James Paul Jackson Sr., 76, Woodstock, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Centegra Hospital – McHenry.
He was born Nov. 2, 1936, in Johnsburg to Ford and Mayme (Frett) Jackson.  On July 27, 1957, he married Sandra Leonard in Woodstock. He was a carpenter by trade and worked for his brothers, Joe and Ed Jackson of Woodstock Construction and later for R&D Thiel Carpenter Contractors as vice president.   He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps  and was stationed in Twentynine Palms, Calif.   He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast who enjoyed his grandchildrens’ sporting events to a fault.  He was a loving father and grandfather who loved a good laugh.  He also was ready to help

Ralph Cervantes

Ralph Cervantes, 72, Woodstock, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, surrounded by those he laughed with, lived for and loved.  He was born Aug. 9. 1941, in Chicago. He graduated from St. Jude Seminary, Momence. He attended Elgin Community College and was employed in the printing and retail businesses.  On Oct. 11, 1975, he married Patricia Kolls. He cared deeply about his family and friends, his heritage, the church and his beloved Chicago Cubs. He will be remembered for his generosity of spirit and sense of humor. Survivors include his wife; five daughters Sue (Don) Trede, Lisa (Mike) Frauens, Margaret Cervantes, Laura Cervantes and Jennifer Cervantes; seven grandchildren, Brad (Courtney) Trede, Lauryn Trede, Bret Wienke, Shannon Cervantes, Jared (Alyssa) Wienke, Andrew

Dr. Kenneth Gardner

Dr. Kenneth Gardner, 68, Woodstock, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, in Woodstock.  He was born Dec. 16, 1944, in Decatur to Lewis and Oma Gardner.  He graduated from Illinois State University in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in biology.  He received his master’s and doctorate degrees from Northern Illinois University.  He was a junior high and high school science teacher in Woodstock School District 200 for 35 years.   He will be remembered for his passion for science and education and for his dedication to his students. He also was a loving husband, father and friend. He enjoyed traveling, reading, cheering for the Chicago Cubs, golfing and learning. In his retirement years, he spent time as a professor at George

John C. Wenzlaff

John C. Wenzlaff, 64, Wonder Lake, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at home. He was born July 4, 1949, in Chicago to Helmut P. and Florence (Schult) Wenzlaff.  On Feb. 13, 1971, he married Karen M. Walton in Chicago. He worked for more than 30 years at Matrix IV in Woodstock. He was with Wonder Lake Company No. 2 Fire Department for 13 years. He was a member of the Woodstock Moose since 1992 and an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Most especially, he was a beloved husband, father and wonderful grandfather. Aubrey F. ‘Bud’ Kriegermeier

Aubrey F. ‘Bud’ Kriegermeier, 89, Woodstock, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 22, 1924, in High Hill, Mo., to William and Mary (Fenslage) Kriegermeier. He grew up in Moulton, Iowa. He served two years as a Fireman First Class in the Division 6 submarine service in World War II in the South Pacific, and six months in the Atlantic Theatre on Patrol E Scout. On June 28,1945, he married Alice Conn in Kansas City, Mo. He and his wife lived in Runnells, Iowa; Newton, Iowa; Centerville, Iowa; Des Plaines; Unionville, Iowa; and Woodstock. He was an avid sportsman and held the skeet shooting record at Fort Sheridan with 298 out of 300 shots.

Michael J. Parth

Michael J. Parth, 56, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at home.  He was born Aug. 17, 1956, in Woodstock to Howard R. Sr. and Celia “Honey” Parth. He graduated from McHenry High School in 1974 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1976. He was stationed in Washington, D.C., and was assigned to the Presidential Honor Guard. He marched with his unit in many presidential events and was proud when he marched in a parade in Boston with his uncle, Anthony Vigliotta, in attendance. He was most recently employed in sales at Woodstock Harley-Davidson and City Lights Harley-Davidson, Palatine. Survivors include two brothers, Howard (Shirely) Parth, Temecula, Calif., and Frank (fiancee Aimee) Parth, Union Grove, Wis.; nieces and

Stanley W. Mavis

Stanley W. Mavis, 93, Milan, formerly of Woodstock, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at Avonlea Cottage, Milan. He was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Ridgefield to Samuel and Belva (Welcome) Mavis. On Oct. 4, 1947, he married Frances “Helen” Mavis in Woodstock. The Rev. Roger Kaufman officiated. He was a World War II veteran who served as a medical technician in the 818th Air Evacuation – a division of the 8th Air Force. He retired from Reliance Tool and Die-Casting in Elgin in January 1994 after 40 years as a tool and die maker. He played on the Simplex baseball team in Algonquin.  He and his wife were members of Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock, for more than 50 years.  He
