Shirley Ilene Leanna

Shirley Ilene Leanna, 71, Palmyra, Wis., died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, in her home surrounded by loved ones, ending her fight against cancer. She was born in Woodstock to Dorothy and Kenneth Casey. She graduated from Woodstock Community High School in 1961 and continued to celebrate yearly reunions with her classmates where she found friendship and support. On Dec. 15, 1962, she married the love of her life, Raymond Leanna Jr., in Marengo. They moved to Palmyra in 1965. She ran the office for Ray Leanna Construction for 40 years. Anyone who knew her knew she was an impeccable bookkeeper. Her checkbook was balanced to the penny, and if it wasn’t, she was going to find out why. She also

Mary Ann Wieberg

Mary Ann Wieberg, 86, Burlington, Wis., died Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at Geneva Lake Manor. She was born May 4, 1928, to Clarence and Opal (McCann) Dickman in Lake Geneva, Wis. Her early life was spent in Lake Geneva and Delavan. She attended and graduated from Delavan High School. On May 24, 1947, she married Arnold Wieberg. Following their marriage they resided in Zenda, Wis., before moving to Woodstock in 1951. They lived in Woodstock for more than 40 years before moving to Burlington. She worked at Montgomery Ward as a customer service manager for 24 years. She loved shopping, working on crafts and painting, especially with oil. Chad W. Winter

Chad William Winter, 18, Woodstock, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, on Sanibel Island, Fla., while on vacation with the love of his life, Lauren Akers. He was born Feb. 6, 1996, in Woodstock, to Kerry (Enders) Warren and Kevin “Chick” Winter. He was a kind-hearted, loving child who worried about everyone else’s well-being, even if it compromised his own. His siblings said he was the greatest brother, and they held an unbreakable bond. He will be greatly missed by his large family, friends and girlfriend. He was an avid longboarder, and he also enjoyed his bright yellow car and video games. Lawrence James “Feez” Feezel

Lawrence James “Feez” Feezel, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, after a well-lived life. He began life Oct. 20, 1942, in Union, the seventh of 13 children born to Floyd and Alice (Bogard) Feezel. On Nov. 4, 1961, he married Mary Rita Daly; he never did figure out how he pulled that off. He was a lifelong resident of McHenry County, a past president of the Woodstock Jaycees, a member of Laborers’ Union Local 25, a popular karaoke singer, founder of Minuteman Press of Crystal Lake, a devout White Sox, Bears, Bulls, Hawks, Huskies, Illini, Cubs and Wolves fan and a great guy. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment was helping create the concrete outer skin for the new Comiskey Park. Survivors

Jerome Lee “Jerry” Bough

Jerome Lee “Jerry” Bough, 69, Hebron, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at his home. He was born Sept. 26, 1945, in Shoals Ind., to Daniel N. and Mary C. (Clement) Bough.   On Aug. 26, 1967, he married Jane Douglass in Shoals. He served in the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of the American Legion, the Woodstock Snowmobile Club, the Midwest Antique Motorcycle Club, the Venture Riders Motorcycle Club, the Lake County Scuba Divers Club and the Ham Radio Club.  He served as a trustee for the town of Hebron as well as a member of the village board.  He was part of the McHenry County Emergency Management volunteer team, the Hebron Search & Rescue team and the McHenry County

Rev. Roger H. Olson

The Rev. Roger H. Olson, 86, Woodstock, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Hartland. He was born Nov. 5, 1928, to Harry and Ruth (Nelson) Olson in Altona. On Feb. 23, 1963, he married Diane Hidebrands. Roger was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1956. He spent 20 months stationed in Nagoya, Japan. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in animal husbandry from Iowa State University in 1954 and began a career in farming in the Altona area and also in McHenry County. He earned a Masters of Divinity from Augustana College and went on to serve in many churches: pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Centralia from 1966 until 1971;

Charlotte Jurgensen Seel

Charlotte Jurgensen Seel, 89, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014. She was born Nov. 23, 1925, to Anna (Felix) and Charles Jurgensen in Paterson, N.J. She graduated from Ramsey High School in 1943 and attended St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing. She married Arthur Seel and lived in Oakland, N.J., where she had the opportunity to get to know Les Paul and his wife then, Mary Ford. They lived the majority of their married life in Wyckoff, N.J., where they were the owners of the Pear Tree Restaurant. In retirement, they moved from her home town to Dorset, Vt. From 1984 through 2009, she enjoyed spending winters in her Naples, Fla., home. After her husband’s untimely death, she chose to

John E. Ray

John E. Ray, 72, Woodstock, died Thursday Dec. 4, 2014, at Advocate Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born Aug. 18, 1942, to Lawton and Maude (Herrin) Ray in Aiken, South Carolina. On Oct. 8, 1966, he married Judy Nastav. He served in the U.S. Army. He designed pumps that were used by NASA on the International Space Station and he received two mission patches for his work in the space program. He enjoyed restoring old cars and was a member of the Pontiac Club. In his youth, he played Minor League baseball. He was a founding member of the Tri City Little League and he always looked forward to attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Survivors include: his wife; a son,

Ralph Riley Obenchain Jr.

Ralph Riley Obenchain Jr., 87, Woodstock, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014.  He was born Aug. 5, 1927, to  Ralph and Mabel Obenchain. He grew up in Evanston and was a member of the Evanston Township High School golf team and the YMCA Franklin Club. In 1957, he married Elaine Higgins. They purchased the historic Gage House in Wilmette in 1966. The couple  moved to rural Woodstock in 1980. He attended Northwestern University and worked for National Cash Register before embarking on a 60-year career as an investment adviser on LaSalle Street in Chicago.  He retired in 2008 at age 81. Ernest W. Kautz

Ernest W. Kautz, 77, Richmond, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. He was born March 28, 1937, to Ernest and Mary (Stocker) Kautz in Genoa City, Wis. On Oct. 16, 1961, he married Patricia Miller at Christ the King Church, Wonder Lake. He worked as a die caster at Woodstock Die Casting for 17 years. He also worked for McHenry Sand and Gravel, McHenry, for more than 10 years and Olsun Electrics Corp. in Richmond for 10 years. He was a member of  the Jersey Cattle Club and bowled in several bowling leagues. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tony Kautz, Richmond; and two grandchildren, Kayla  and Anthony Kautz.
