Staff Reportnews@thewoodstockindependent.com Two men were flown by helicopter to a Rockford hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a four-vehicle accident Friday afternoon just west of Woodstock. U.S. 14 at Hughes Road was closed for hours after a semitrailer overturned, spilling wastewater. At least one driver was reported trapped and had to be freed by first responders from the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, who arrived at the scene within seven minutes of the 12:32 p.m. call. Two medical helicopters landed in a field southeast of the intersection to take the two victims to Woodstock. Three patients declined treatment at the scene. Firefighters from Union Fire Protection District and Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District assisted at the scene. Crews from Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts and Huntley Fire Protection District covered Woodstock fire stations during the incident. Names of the victims were not released. According to a news release, the Environmental Protection Agency was notified of the large wastewater spill; the cleanup was being coordinated through the trucking company involved.
