Virginia Lilly Allen, 97, of Woodstock, died March 27, 2018, at Centegra Hospital-Huntley.
She was born Jan. 7, 1921, in Chicago to John and Clara (Drewitz) Ewert. She married Hugh H. Allen, who preceded her in death.
Virginia was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woodstock. She had been a volunteer with several nursing homes and hospitals for more than 42 years.
She is survived by a son, Charles Allen; a brother, John Ewert; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Makyle; and many dear friends, including the Kerschke family and the Schoenberg family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon; a granddaughter, Michelle; and two infant sisters, June and Loraine.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 401 St. John’s Road, with callers received starting at 10 a.m. Private interment will be in Ridgewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Des Plaines.
