Virginia J. Gizel, 79, Wonder Lake, died Friday, April 15, 2016, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Aug. 18, 1936, to Andrew and Ethel (Pease) Dipple in Chicago.
She worked for Oak Manufacturing for more than 25 years and then as a production control manager at Autotrol for more than 10 years. She was a true artist and enjoyed drawing and painting. She loved gardening and doing crafts and quilting, making quilts for her entire family. Most of all, she loved her family and she cherished the time they spent together.
Survivors include a son, David Gizel; a daughter, Donna (Tracy) Juchcinski; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Gizel; nine grandchildren, Dave, Mike, Emily, Patrick (Tarahka), Dane, Veronica, Lori, Melissa, Joshua (Demo); 15 great-grandchildren who called her “Grandma Giggles;” a sister, Alberta; and a godson, John Brush.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald Gizel; and a sister, Marie.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5006 E. Wonder Lake Road, Wonder Lake. The memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, with burial to follow at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery.
