Terry R. “TR” Schwebke, 79 

Terry R. “TR” Schwebke, age 79 of Whitewater, Wis., passed away at Tidewell Hospice House in Bradenton, Fla., on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023.

Terry was born on June 16, 1944, in Belvidere, Ill., son of Robert and Rosetta (Spaulding) Schwebke.

He proudly served his country from 1965 to 1967 as an MP in the Army stationed in South Korea. 

Terry married Marilyn (Shaw), the girl next door, on Feb. 3, 1968. They raised two daughters, Lori and Jodi.

He worked as an agriculture lender for most of his career. Many weekends were spent coaching, officiating softball and football, camping with his family, golfing, and watching the Chicago Bears and Blackhawks. 

After retirement, Terry and Marilyn enjoyed being snowbirds in Palmetto, Fla. They also loved traveling the world and spending time with Florida friends. 

Terry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn; daughters, Lori (Paul) Berna of Woodstock and Jodi (Jeff) Bunge of Dubuque, Iowa; three grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan, and Emily Berna of Woodstock; brothers, David (Merle) Schwebke of Sun City West, Ariz., and Andy (Liza) Rose of Harvard, Ill.; a sister, Merry (Peter) Lockinger of Woodstock; and many nieces and nephews. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rosetta Schwebke; a brother, Roger Schwebke; sister-in-law, Janis Schwebke; and a son, Brian James, in infancy. 

Visitation will be held at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home at 1211 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., with service following at 11:30. 

In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated in Terry’s memory to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or the American Cancer Society.
