Teresa Jean Pappas, 62

Teresa Jean Pappas, 62, of Chicago, formerly of Woodstock, passed away Thursday evening, Jan. 6, 2022, at the Leucht family home in Woodstock with her family at her side.

She was born Aug. 28, 1959, in Woodstock, the daughter of Chuck and Jacqueline Leucht. She was a graduate of St. Mary Grade School and a 1977 graduate of Marian Central High School. Teresa married the love of her life, John T. Pappas, on Aug. 1, 1981, in Woodstock. She loved riding horses, dogs of all breeds, and playing softball with friends.

Teresa was always hard working having been employed at Ormsby Motors in Crystal Lake before joining her brother Walter as office manager at the James A. O’Connor Funeral Home in Huntley. She found the work to be personal and rewarding. She had the biggest heart for the comfort of families they were serving.

Surviving is her husband of 40 years, John; children, Thomas (Lida) Pappas, Johno (Morgan) Pappas, Jackie Pappas, and Gina (Robert) Taglinetti; five grandchildren she adored, Mac, Isabella, Shephard, Soloman, and Atlas; her brothers and sisters, Chuck (Patti) Leucht, Regina (Wiley “Dick”) Bell, Walter (Judy) Leucht, and John (Cathy) Leucht; her in-laws, Tom Pappas, Louis Pappas, Antigone Wojtas, and Venetia Roumbos; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Casey Leucht; a niece, Rebecca Bell; sister-in-law, Margot Pappas; and brother-in-law, Brian Wojtas.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave., Woodstock. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock.
