Ruth Mary Ann Sullivan

Ruth Mary Ann Sullivan, 88, Wonder Lake, died Feb. 23, 2018, at Bickford Assisted Living, Crystal Lake.

She was born May 22, 1929, in Chicago, to Richard and Marian (Shmerling) Kleeman.

On July 16, 1949, she married Donald B. Sullivan at the Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Chicago.

She was an avid gardener, loved mowing the grass and working in her yard. She also loved knitting, cooking, sewing, and working on jigsaw puzzles.

Family was very important to Ruth because, after the death of her parents, she and her sister Ellen lived in the St. Joseph Orphanage in Michigan until they graduated from high school. She went to work as a secretary in Chicago. She also worked in the bookstore at Marian Central Catholic High School in the early 1970s. She and her husband bought one of the original homes on the west side of Wonder Lake where they raised their children and lived until 2011.

Survivors include her children, Michael (Sally) Sullivan, Woodstock, Donna (Bruce) Westergren, Fort Myers, Florida., Peg (Craig) Feldt, Marengo, and Kelly (Brian) Caldwell, Wonder Lake; eleven grandchildren, Sean Sullivan, Courtney Reinhard, Casey Sullivan, Jenny Wagner, Lauren Westergren, Andrew Feldt, Brandon Feldt, Meghann Feldt, Brad Caldwell, Benjamin Caldwell and Brett Caldwell; eleven great-grandchildren, Hannah Reinhard, Emily Reinhard, Madelyn Sullivan, Timothy Sullivan, Mason Feldt, Mackenzie Feldt, Brayden Caldwell, Kaylee Caldwell, Whitney Feldt, Palmer Feldt and Jackson Wagner.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2011; and a sister, Ellen Bidne.

A memorial gathering was held March 5 at Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to JourneyCare Foundation.
