Rosalie Romano

Rosalie “Randy” Romano, 81, Wonder Lake, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Chicago to Stanley and Louise “Ludwika” Marzek. On Aug. 11, 1951, she married Daniel Joseph Romano in Chicago.

Formerly of Chicago, she worked for Brach’s Candy Co. in Chicago and also received CNA training. After moving to Wonder Lake in 1975, she focused on her family and was a homemaker. 

She enjoyed playing bingo, taking car trips with her husband and, in later years, taking bus trips with other seniors. Their favorite destinations were casinos. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, McHenry. She was a passionate supporter for more than 30 years of the Friends of Bill W. Known as “Randy,” she regularly spoke at support groups and was involved in meetings at Nativity Lutheran Church. 

She loved to spend her spare time with her grandchildren and supported them.

Survivors include a son, Gregg (Diane) Romano, Ringwood; two daughters, Kim (William) Hauschild, Wonder Lake and Dawn Romano (Richard) Hockenberry, Wonder Lake; six grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Romano, Michelle (fiance Grant) Hance, Danielle Hance, Tony Romano, Monica Hauschild and Angelica Hauschild; nieces and nephews; many friends from church and Friends of Bill W.; and her dearest friend for more than 40 years, Dolores Miller, Wonder Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oct. 27, 2009; three sisters, Marion (Ben) Ingrassia, Helen (Joseph) Duncan and Lorraine (Bruno) Arndt; and a brother, Joseph Marzek.

Visitation was Dec. 4 at Justen’s Wonder Lake Funeral Home. Visitation and the funeral continued Dec. 5 at the funeral home, followed by interment at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
