Ronald J. Okrie

Ronald J. Okrie, 79, Woodstock, died Sunday, Dec, 21, 2014, at JourneyCare-Woodstock.
He was born July 10, 1935, to Anthony and Mae (Kara) Okrie in Chicago.
On Oct. 27, 1956, he married Veronica Papp in Berwyn.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958.
He and his wife owned and operated the Edgetown Bowling Alley in Woodstock from 1968 until retiring in 2001. He also served as secretary of the McHenry County Bowling Association.
After retirement, he spent a great deal of time at their cottage in New Lisbon, Wis., where he made many new and good friends. While in Wisconsin, he could be found on the lake in his pontoon boat or traveling around in his precious Green Bay Packer golf cart.
He was a member of the Woodstock Moose, a founding member of the Woodstock Rotary Club, a past member of the Woodstock Country Club, an avid Packer fan and Sox fan. He was known to be partial to the Cadillac. He had many good friends and will be missed.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rhonda (Dick) Polizzi and Kathy (Larry) Kersten; three grandchildren, Tony (Jen) Polizzi, Jeremy (Amanda Almodova) Polizzi and Ryan Polizzi; a great-grandson, Landon Polizzi; and two brothers, Robert (Marion) Okrie and Ralph (Gayle) Okrie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation and funeral were Dec. 27 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home.
