Robert D. “Bob” Salzman

Robert D. “Bob” Salzman, 84, Cabot, Ark., died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at home, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born Jan. 19, 1929, in Libertyville to Herman F. and Margaret Bauer Salzman.

He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Woodstock and retired from the United States Air Force as a chief master sergeant after 30 years.

After retirement, he worked for several years in real estate, at Dyson Oil Company Sales and for the Rolling Hills Country Club Pro Shop.

He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards and golfing.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Phyllis C. Jumper Salzman; four sons, John Todd (Kelly) Salzman, Colorado Springs, Colo., Philip Craig Salzman, Cabot, Robert Stephen Salzman, Zion, and Mark Allen (Carrie) Salzman, Long Grove; two daughters, Robin Diane (Johnny) Salzman, Russellville, Ark.; and Sharon Jordan, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Parker and Lindsey Salzman, Drake and Bryce Johnson, Jayden and Jared Salzman and Carley Salzman; two sisters, Jean Reeb, Woodstock, and Marge (Ronald) Lipinsky, Sharon, Wis.; many nieces and nephews; and many golfer friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Dhom.

Visitation was April 9 at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home.

A celebration his life was April 10 at Cabot United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Cabot.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and hospice nurses at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Little Rock, Ark., and the in-home hospice care team.
