Robert “Bob” Pope, 87

Robert “Bob” Pope, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 8,2025, at JourneyCare Hospice Care Center in Barrington, lll.. Bob was born on Jan. 14, 1938, in Woodstock to Fred and Velma Pope. 

Bob, a lifelong resident of Woodstock, attended Woodstock High School and served in the United States Army stationed in Korea. Upon returning, he found the love of his life, Nancy, (née Springman), and they wed on Dec. 23, 1967, building their lives together for 57 years. Bob took pride in his work as a mold maker, enjoying the many people he worked with throughout his career. 

Bob’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, weekend hunts with friends either in the field or at the White House bar in Woodstock, and greeting the many dogs that would stop by at Westwood Trail. His hunting trips to Canada and southern Illinois, which were always fond memories that he would reminisce. 

Bob was extremely proud of his family and a loving father of his two children, Diane (Pete) Zientz and Dick (Celine) Pope, as well as a loving grandpa to his four grandchildren, Jake Zientz, Jared Zientz, Kendall Pope, and Raegyn Pope. 

Preceded in death by his parents; Fred and Velma Pope; brothers Skip and Jim Pope; and sister, Carol Foreman

The family would like to thank the entire staff of JourneyCare Hospice and the Veterans Administration for their love and incredible support.

Visitation for Robert E Pope will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home,1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock IL. The funeral will be held at noon Thursday Feb. 20, 2025, at McHenry County Memorial Park, 11301 Lake Ave., Woodstock, IL, with full military honors of the United States Army.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bob’s honor his to JourneyCare Addus Hope Foundation and Veterans Assistance.
