Rita M. Rich, 70, McHenry, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee.
She was born Jan. 28, 1942, in Chicago to Lewis and Gladys L. (Dominique) Higgins.
A longtime resident of Wonder Lake, she lived in South Carolina for a time before returning to the McHenry area in 2003. She was employed by Claussen Pickle Co. for more than 25 years prior to retirement.
She was a member of The Church of Holy Apostles and previously a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and was devoted to her faith. A doting grandmother, she was giving of her time to friends and neighbors.
Survivors include two children, Sheryl Rich, McHenry, and William (Shelly) Rich Jr., Antioch; five grandchildren, Amanda Rich, Aaron Rich, Ryan (Alex) Rich, Michael Rich and Denise Martinez; four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Lucas, Gianna and Clinton “C.J.”; and a sister, Joan Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Rich Sr.; a daughter, Mary Cathleen Rich; and a granddaughter, Rita S. Rich.
Visitation was held Dec. 28 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, McHenry. The funeral was held Dec. 29 at The Church of Holy Apostles, McHenry. Interment followed at Christ the King Cemetery, Wonder Lake.
