Richard P. Stackhouse Sr., 73

Richard P. Stackhouse Sr., age 73, of Woodstock, passed peacefully on Oct.17, 2023, at his home next to his wife holding her hand.

He was born in Woodstock on Sept.11, 1950, the son of Clarence and Joyce (White) Stackhouse. He married Joyce Lehman on Dec. 28, 1991.

For many years he worked in concrete construction. Richard was a member of the American Legion, having served in U.S. Army, and was also a member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge. Richard truly loved working in his yard and tending to his garden, as well as his yearly trips to Mexico with Joyce. While in Mexico, they made many good friends who became family to them.

He also enjoyed reading his books, completing word puzzles, and always had an old western movie on the television. Richard was always willing to lend his strong hand and cherished spending time with family and friends. His thermos of coffee was always close by, and Hershey chocolate bars were a favorite birthday and Father’s Day gift. 

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Richard (Jessica) Stackhouse Jr., Scott (Shawn) Lehman, Keith Lehman, and Michelle (Steve) Polizzi; nine grandchildren, Claire, Claudia, Emilie, Katie, Mandie, Connor, Ella, Logan, and Will; mother, Joyce; brother, Steve (Linda) Stackhouse; and sister, Jane (Ray) Kastning. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence.

Visitation will be Saturday, Oct.28, 2023, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock ,IL 60098. Interment will be at McHenry County Memorial Park cemetery in Woodstock.
