Richard C. Polnow, 90, Belvidere, Formerly of Union

Richard C. Polnow, 90, Belvidere, formerly of Union, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015. 

He was born April 18, 1925, to George and Florence (Bloedorn) Polnow in Marengo. 

On Nov. 29, 1947, he married Arlene Schiller in Marengo.

A United States Army veteran, he served in the Korean War. He retired from Freund Equipment after 36 years of employment. He was a member of the Teamsters and the local Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed playing poker, bike riding, being outdoors, spending time with his dogs and, most of all, spending time with his family.

Survivors include six children, Dawn Colwell, Daniel (Sharon) Polnow, Douglas (Mary) Polnow, Denise (Pete) Frohling, Dennis Polnow and Dick (Sue) Polnow; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Donny and David Polnow; a brother, Wayne (Susie) Polnow; and a son-in-law, Charles Colwell.

The visitation and memorial service were Dec. 12 at Zion Lutheran Church, Marengo. Interment was in the McHenry County Memorial Park.

Arrangements were made by the Marengo-Union Funeral Home.
