Raymond H. Stanger

Raymond H. Stanger, 90, Tampa, Fla., formerly of Woodstock, died Sunday, April 19, 2015, at his home.

He was born Nov. 11, 1924, to William and Emma (Backus) Stanger in Woodstock.  

He married Lucille L. Pierce and together they celebrated more than 63 years of marriage.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed on PT boats. 

He worked for Woodstock Die Cast for more than 38 years. He loved golf and was a lifetime member of Woodstock VFW Post 5040 and the Moose Lodge. He was proud to have fought for his country and for liberty. The values he passed on to his family will forever be cherished. 

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Morry) Thorson; a son, James (Teri) Stanger; five grandchildren, Bill Thorson, Cheryl (Rob) Kischuk, Derek Stanger, Raymond Jimmy Stanger and Theresa Maylei Stanger; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Joy, Caroline Grace and Nathan Benett Kischuk.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife April 24, 2009; and five brothers, William, Elmer, Edward, Norman and Donald.

Visitation and funeral were held April 25, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home.  Interment was at McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the Woodstock VFW Post 5040 honors squad.
