Ray L. ‘Bud’ Oughton Jr., 88

Ray L. “Bud” Oughton Jr., 88, of Woodstock, passed away on Thursday June 24, 2021, at his home in Woodstock.

He was born in Fort Atkinson, Wis., on Oct. 2, 1932, to Ray L. and Lucille (Darling) Oughton Sr. He married Barbara Dunlap on July 2, 1960, in Woodstock.

Bud was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a talented Mr. Fix It, and especially enjoyed woodworking and woodcarving. He served on the board of directors for The Adult and Child Therapy Center and was the handyman around the center, volunteering many hours. He was named an “Everyday Hero” by the Northwest Herald. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Woodstock Country Club. He especially enjoyed being with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 wonderful years, Barbara Oughton; two sons, David (Sara) Oughton and Brian (Pattie) Oughton; three grandchildren, Dylan, Juan and Andrea; two sisters, Lucy Kuhn and Judy Larsen; a brother-in-law, Bruce Dunlap; also, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marthanna Kelly; brothers-in-law, Warren Kelly, Robert Kelly, William Larsen, and David Dunlap.

A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday, June 29, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.
