R. Barry Bollensen

R. Barry Bollensen, 84, Springfield, died Monday, May 15, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 5, 1932, to Robert H. and Martha Constable Bollensen in Evanston.

On Oct. 29, 2004, he married Judith Nystrom in Rock Island.

He graduated from Northwestern University and worked as the assistant director of the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts from 1978 to 1994 in Springfield. Prior to 1978 he worked as state director of the National Council on Crime and Delinquency in Hawaii and Illinois. He was also the Chief of Probation and Parole in Dade County, Fla.

He was a member of many professional organizations and volunteered at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and Salvation Army Adult Rehab Center.

Survivors include his wife; a sister, Valerie Ann (David) Gowdy, Tierra Verde, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
