Michael Francis Engelhardt, 74

Michael Francis Engelhardt, 74, of Woodstock, passed away on June 23, 2021, at his home in Woodstock in the loving arms of his wife, Kay.

He was born in Vöcklabruck, Austria, on June 27, 1946, to Sebastian and Barbara (Kaiser) Engelhardt. He married Karen Kay Grant on Dec. 4, 1971.

Mike (or Spike, to friends and relatives) was fun-loving, had an easy-going spirit, and a great sense of humor. He loved bowling, golf, fishing, horseshoes, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, music (especially oldies rock), and all of the Chicago sports teams. He provided well for his beloved family during his lifelong career as a plastic molding engineer at Filtertek in Hebron, Ill.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay; brother, Richard; children, Michael (Megan), Thomas (Mary), and Andrew (Roxanne); close friend, Gavon Stroud; grandchildren, AJ, Myhre, Ashton, Leo, and Lucie; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joseph, sister-in-law Willa, sister Elizabeth, sister Magdalena, and brother-in-law Charles.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., in Woodstock from 3 to 7 p.m., followed by an informal gathering at the Engelhardt residence.
