Mary Louise Figard

Mary Louise Figard, 62, Woodstock, died May 15, 2014, at the Holy Family Medical Center, Des Plaines, surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 13, 1951, in Elkhorn, Wis. to Raymond and Christina (Postma) Wiersma. 

On Aug. 7, 1971, she married Terry Figard in Hebron.

She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, where she sang almost 43 years in the church choir. She enjoyed craft work of all kinds, and made many items to be sold at Mistletoe Magic to benefit local charities. She enjoyed the outdoors, particularly gardening. She was also a seamstress and loved making cookies with her grandchildren.

She always smiled. She was devoted to her family and friends, worshiped her grandchildren and will be remembered as being a very generous person, never refusing to help others. 

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Michael (Erica), Rockford, Mich., and Matthew (Jessica), Genoa City, Wis.; four grandchildren, Aurora, Wyatt, Emily and Kyle Figard; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; a sister, Catherine Knull; a brother, Clifford (Dorothy) Wiersma; and two aunts, Hazel Postma and Mabel Woods.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The visitation was May 20 at Grace Lutheran Church. The visitation will continue at the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in McHenry County Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to either the National Breast Cancer Foundation or to the Grace Lutheran Church music program.
