Mary G. Jones, 98

Mary G. Jones of Woodstock died peacefully at home, born to eternity on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1924, to John and Maggie (Peterson) Karroll in West Frankfort, Ill. She married William D. Jones on April 3, 1948.
She grew up a “coal miner’s daughter” and carried that hard-work life to her life in Woodstock. She with her husband were charter members of the First Baptist Church in Palatine and Calvary Baptist Church Woodstock, now known as Gospel Grace Church. She was an active member at church, teaching Sunday school for many years, and loved the mission work at church. She loved crocheting, gardening, and baking. Her family always came first; grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of attention. She always enjoyed attending their school and sport activities.
She is survived by her son, Doug (Jan) Jones; a daughter, Judi (Bruce) Jefko; six grandchildren, Mike (Mary Ellen), Michelle (Toby), Mark (Terri Jo), Chris, Jason (Nicole) and Staci (Christopher); and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday Jan. 3, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. The visitation will continue on Wednesday Jan. 4, 2023, at Gospel Grace Church, 1903 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the McHenry County Memorial Park cemetery in Woodstock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gospel Grace Church, 1903 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL 60098.
