Mary F. Taylor, 98, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2021. Mary was the loving wife of George B. Taylor, daughter of Mae and Richard Farrell, and sister of James Farrell. Mary was the blessed and devoted mother of seven children: Robert (Mary Rita) Taylor, Dennis (Terry) Taylor, Patricia (Thomas) Micek, Mary Jo (Brett) Willits, Colleen (Gary, deceased) Huntley, Georgia (Scott) Stevens, and John (Michelle) Taylor. She was the loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary graduated from St. Mary’s High School, worked as a switchboard operator at Illinois Bell Telephone Co., and later worked as a bookkeeper for the Woodstock State Bank. where life-long friends and co-workers loved her sense of humor and were the target of her shenanigans.

Mary loved to travel with family, going to Florida, Wisconsin, Texas, South Dakota, the British Isles, and Mexico. She loved spending time with her family, especially holiday gatherings with a house full of kids and grandkids. St. Patrick’s Day was her favorite holiday celebrating her Irish heritage. 

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, and a son-in-law. 

A visitation will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL 60098. The funeral Mass will be held at noon at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave, Woodstock, IL, followed by interment at the Calvary Cemetery in Woodstock.

Memorial donations can be made in Mary’s honor to the Woodstock Food Pantry, 1033 Lake Ave., Woodstock IL 60098.

Mary religiously read the newspaper every morning to see if she was listed in the obituaries. Sorry, Mom.
