Mary Chris Stieg, 57

Mary Chris Stieg, 57, of Woodstock, was put into God’s hands as an angel on Saturday, Aug. 28, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 21, 1963, to Audrey (Mathews) and John Hardt in Woodstock. Loving wife of Michael Stieg, they were married on July 8, 2000, at the family farm where she grew up and later purchased to continue married life and to raise their three daughters. Mary had worked at DB Hess for 30 years until they closed, then she went on to work at the McHenry County Government Center.

Mary was a kind, loving person with an infectious giggle and smile. She was a constant companion to Mike and a rock for her girls. She will be missed as she was a great friend to many and loved by all who knew her.

Growing up, Mary loved showing her animals at the local and state fairs.,She also loved to spend time with her family, dogs, and friends and enjoyed riding horses, playing golf, mowing the yard, and hanging in the sun with her grandkids.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Stieg; mother, Audrey Davis; mother-in-law, Linda Stieg; daughters, Lynea, Kalli, and Rachael Stieg; grandchildren, Peyton, Diego, Skylar, and Jaxson; grandbaby, JC, due in January; siblings, Denise (Greg) Teresi, Kathy Bennet, David (Connie) Hardt, and John (Cathy) Hardt; brother-in-law, Brian (Kelly) Kerwin; sister-in-law, Kimm Gonzales; and nieces and nephews, Jenn, Nicole, Alison, Brandon, Megan, Richard, Owen, Eric, Michael, Greg, Noah, Kevyn, and Paige.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Hardt; father-in-law, Gerald Stieg; and brothers-in-law, Steve Bennet and Keith Gonzales.

The celebration of life will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the Harvard Moose Lodge, 22500 Route 173, Harvard, IL 60033. There will be a time of remembrance at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family or the charity of your choice.
