Marlene Joan (Walsh) Stock, 79, formerly of Woodstock

Marlene Joan (Walsh) Stock, 79, formerly of Woodstock, died Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Hospice of the Valley, Surprise, Ariz., after a battle with cancer.

She was born May 9, 1936, to George and Matilda (Haley) Walsh in Newburgh, N.Y.

She married Thomas Stock in 1956.

After they were married, the couple lived in Woodstock until 1998 when they moved to Arizona, living in Prescott Valley and then Sun City West. 

Early in life, she worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Newburgh and Woodstock. She earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in addictions counseling from Westbrook University in 2003 and worked as a substance-abuse and family counselor for 15 years. She enjoyed gardening and raising a variety of plants and spending time with her husband and family. 

Survivors include her husband; a son, Jeffrey Stock; a grandson, Michael Stock; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Chiles.

No services were held. 

Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army.
