Marie J. Malone

Marie J. Malone, 89, Woodstock, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Hearthstone Manor Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Chicago to Charles and Angeline Rizzo.

She owned and operated Casa Maria Beauty Shop in Niles and Mt. Prospect.

She was a single mother who worked hard and raised two children while putting herself through beauty school. She was proud to receive her high school diploma at the age of 50.  

In her spare time, she enjoyed playing golf, listening to music, dancing, making pottery and crocheting.  

She loved her dogs, Susie, Heidi, and Blackie. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Harris; five grandchildren, Beth (Jeff) Drenthe, Jonathan (Erin) Malone, Jennessa (Chad) Fikeks, Melissa (Kyle) Kettner and Michelle (John) Helmich; nine great-grandchildren, with another on the way; two brothers, Joseph Rizzo and Philip (Mickey) Rizzo; a sister-in-law, Sandy Rizzo; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Brian Kevin Malone; a son, Robert Cary (Diane) Malone; a grandson, Jacob Hagemann; a sister, Sylvia (Raymond) Bernicchi; a brother, Charles Rizzo; and a sister-in-law, Judy Rizzo.

All services were private.
