Margaret Ann 'Maggie' Kearns, 20, Woodstock

Margaret Ann“Maggie” Kearns, 20, died Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Rush Hospital, Chicago, following a stroke.

She was born Dec.26, 1996, to Ann and James Kearns in Woodstock.

She developed a passion for engineering from an early age beginning with building an elevator for her Barbies and Polly Pockets. She continued studying engineering with Project Lead the Way through high school and just finished her first year at U of I in the Engineering Program. She was a self-professed nerd and wore it as a badge of honor.

She loved camping, good books, time out on grandpa’s boat, hoverboards, going on adventures with friends, exploring the worlds of cosmetology and makeup artistry and losing herself in dancing and music. She was someone who genuinely cared about others, was always unapologetically herself and inspired many people with her determination and perseverance to follow her dreams.

Survivors include her parents; a sister, Bridget; 13 cousins; her grandmothers; aunts and uncles; and many good and loyal friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers; and her pet goldfish, Freddie.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. A celebration Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 2918 S. Country Club Road, Woodstock.

Memorials can be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation or Heifer International.
