Mable Harwood

Mabel Harwood, 95, Woodstock, died Friday, March  28, 2014, at a Corona, Calif., hospice.

She was born April 21, 1918, to Charles and Dora Garrison in Little Rock, Ark.

On Jan. 8, 1940, she married Albert E. Harwood in Dubuque, Iowa. 

Gardening was a lifelong passion and she enjoyed canning the fruits of her gardening. She also enjoyed camping and fishing with her family. She was a member of  Grace Lutheran Church, volunteering at the church in the kitchen, food pantry and sewing circle.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Harwood (and spouse), Western Springs, and Ron Harwood, Corona, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Skelley Harwood, Western Springs; three grandchildren; six  great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband; 14 brothers and sisters; and a granddaughter. Mabel was the last of her generation from the Charles Garrison family.

The funeral was held April 5 at Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home.

Donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church for use in the kitchen.
