Leona L. DeVogelaere

Leona L. DeVogelaere, 90, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at her home in Woodstock, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 27, 1922 in Barrington, to Frank and Emma (Gritmacker) Roth.
On June 13, 1942, she  married William G. DeVogelaere in Woodstock.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock for more than 65 years. She and her husband were dairy farmers in the area for more than 30 years.
She will be remembered by those who knew her for her compassion and kindness.
She had an open-door policy and enjoyed baking things for people who came to visit.
Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth (Jeanette) DeVogelaere, Woodstock; two daughters, Sandra Schroeder, Woodstock, and Nancy (Bill) Frank, Whitesburg, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Katie DeVogelaere, Kristopher DeVogelaere, Terry Schroeder, Kenny Schroeder; Shane (Haeson Hottendorf) Johnson, Tommy (Corrie) Wasberg, Danny Wasberg and David Wasberg; a step-grandchild, Alicia Frank; two great-grandchildren, Kailey and Kara Wasberg; two step-great-grandchildren, Mikel (Nora) Hottendorf and Edward Hottendorf; two sisters, Dorothy (Henry) Linderman, Loveland, Colo., and Eleanor Setser, Woodstock; a sister-in-law, Carol Roth, Woodstock; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Dec. 16, 2003; her parents; a brother, Frank E. Roth; and a sister, Elsie DeVogelaere.
Visitation was  Aug. 21 at Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock.
Arrangements were made by Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock.
Burial was private at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
Memorials can be sent to Hearthstone Communities, Heartland Hospice or Grace Lutheran Church.
