Kurt R. Maas, 71, Woodstock, died Monday, July 3, 2017, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 26, 1946, to Theodore and Doris (Lehman) Mass in Chicago. He was baptized in 1946 at St. Steven’s Lutheran Church, Chicago, and he was confirmed in 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Brookfield.
On Feb. 25, 1995, he married the love of his life, Jane Stack.
He joined the Marine Corps in 1964, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. After three years of service, he returned home and received his high school diploma from Riverside Brookfield High School. He owned and operated a very successful nursery and landscaping business for many years. He spent his later years working in the real estate industry.
Survivors include his loving wife; two children, Ronald Maas and Khristy Lester; a twin sister, Karren (Rev. Paul) Krause; a nephew, Joel (Michelle) Krause and their children, Micah and Hannah; and Jane’s family, the Bergums and Stacks.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was July 7 and the funeral was July 8 at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. Interment was private.
