Kathleen Nancy Petersen, 79

Kathleen Nancy Petersen, age 79, peacefully passed away July 4, 2023, at Northwestern Hospital in McHenry surrounded by family.

She was born Sept. 12, 1943, in Woodstock to Orville and Edith Mae Parrish. Kathleen was truly loved by so many people! Her biggest gift was to help and take care of others! She was an awesome mom, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, gramma, great-gramma, colleague, and friend! She loved going on family vacations to Birchwood, Wis., so she could share her love of fishing and cooking. She loved spending time with her family and friends playing cards. She was the best at entertaining in her home!

Kathleen spent the majority of her career working as the executive administrator to the superintendent(s) of Woodstock School District 200. She was very passionate about her job and admired by many with her commitment to the students, parents, and staff.

Kathleen is survived by her children, Jeff (Karen) Petersen and Paige (Ken) Kohley; grandchildren, Alex (Missy), Evan, Mitchell, Tori, Dylan, and Drew; great-grandchild, Mackenzie Mae; brother, Gary (Peggy) Parrish; and nieces, Felicia, LaDawn, Brittany, and Jessica. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thayer Parrish.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, July 16, 2023, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. Interment service will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lurie’s Children’s Hospital.
