Katherine Anne Kohl-Houston, 78

Katherine Anne Kohl passed away on June 9, 2022, at her home in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was born Jan. 31, 1944, to Raymond G. Kohl and Loretta B. Kohl (Peaslee) in Woodstock. She was the first of four children.
She attended Woodstock Community High School and graduated 1962. She attended Carthage College, first in Illinois and then in Kenosha, Wis. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education (science and art).
She taught school in Iowa and then in Oklahoma City schools from 1969 to 2012. She taught middle school and high school. Her accolades ranged from Teacher of the Year to numerous acknowledgements for students with the most improved grades.

Kathy enjoyed being outdoors. She loved riding horses, swimming, ice skating, and gardening. Her favorite music was jazz. Kathy also loved estate sales where she could see vintage clothing and silver jewelry. She liked to sketch nature and biology topics. She and her husband loved their dogs and enjoyed walking them around the neighborhood. Her pups were rescues and often pit bulls.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel Walker Houston III, who is also a retired teacher. They were married Aug. 8, 1988.

Kathy is also survived by her sister, Sue Ellen (Kohl) Siatos in Tennessee; her brother, Raymond L Kohl (Tammie) in Illinois; and multiple nephews and nieces, Raymond A Kohl (Katrina), Jacob Kohl and son Dominick, Riley (Dan) Sexton and daughter Luna, Tracey A. Brokaw and sons Dylan and Damian, Lexi D. Siatos, and Nick A. Siatos.

She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Richard Kohl; both of her parents; and her brother-in-law, Theodore G. Siatos.
Kathy will be laid to rest Sept. 28 at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
