Joy D. Pahl, 80, Woodstock

Joy D. Pahl, 80, Woodstock, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born Feb. 23, 1936, to Joseph and Eleanor (Pfeifer) Vesely in Cicero.  

On Feb. 26, 1955, she married Rudolph E. Pahl in Berwyn.

She was a longtime resident of Woodstock. She attended Morton High School and was crowned Miss Morton of 1953, her senior year.  After raising her family, she worked for Woodstock School District 200 in the printing department, and later in life she taught water aerobics at the Woodstock Recreation Center and Healthbridge.

She enjoyed gardening, and square dancing with the Harvard Milk Center Squares.

Survivors include her husband; three children, Katherine (Jim) Potts, Steve (Kim) Pahl and Krista (Michael) Baloun; seven grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Potts, Matthew Potts, Steven, Dan and Kaitlyn Pahl, and Jack and William Baloun; three great-grandchildren, Jaidyn, Lilyan and Elliott; and an aunt, Lorraine Suster.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mae Pfeifer; her parents; and a granddaughter, Josie Baloun. 

All services were private.
