Janice Doreen Torres

Janice Doreen Torres, 72, Woodstock, died suddenly and unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry.

She was born Sept. 16, 1945, to Paul F. and Lillian F. Miotto in Chicago.

Her family moved to Woodstock when she was a young girl, and she lived in Woodstock her entire life.

She most recently lived at Walden Oaks in the senior building, where she made a close circle of friends. She enjoyed attending activities held by the committees and management.

She loved spending time with family and friends, especially making almost weekly visits to Chicago to visit her Aunt Nat, who is 103 years young. She loved her sister dates, too. Laughing, shopping, going to the show uptown and having lunch were events she looked forward to with them.

She loved Elvis and wolves and collected items pertaining to both.

Survivors include two daughters, Doreen “Dee” (Darby Jr.) Brown, Woodstock, and Michell  (Robert) Hyrkas-Ariss, Mauston, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Amy Marie (Rudy) Torres, Darby (Angeline Loos) Brown III Dylan Renae Brown and Andrew Kyle Torres and Hailey Hyrkas; three great-grandchildren, SkyeLeigh Rae Brown, Isaac James Hulick,  and  Sophia Salas, two sisters, Dorothy Haldeman Staab and Donna Connors, both of Rockford; and an aunt, Natalina Kass.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul E. Miotto.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 3, at Grace Lutheran Church, 1300 Kishwaukee Valley Road, followed by a memorial service at noon.
