Jacob Samuel Norys

Jacob Samuel Norys, 16, Woodstock, died Sunday, July 1, 2012.

He was born Nov. 16, 1995, to Stephen and Judy (Rausch) Norys, Woodstock. 

He had just completed his sophomore year at Woodstock High School.

He was passionate about many things and loved soccer and fishing. He showed a talent for soccer at a very young age and often played with teams coached by his father. He recently had completed a successful season in the top division of the Young Sportsmen’s Soccer League. He was an accomplished goalie and was known by his teammates as the “Kung Fu Panda of the Goal.” 

He also was known for his smile and positive attitude. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by his family, his friends and soccer teammates, his fellow students at Woodstock High School and the community whose days he brightened.

Survivors include his parents;  a sister, Justine; four brothers, Zachary, Nicholas, Luke and Isaiah; and his grandparents; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Grace. 

Visitation was held July 5 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Woodstock.  

The funeral Mass was held July 6 at the church, followed by interment at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Palatine.
