Born Feb. 18, 1926

Died Nov. 4, 2023

Helen Bigelow Biedermann passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Nov. 4, 2023, at Hearthstone Manor in Woodstock.

Helen was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Chicago to Albert and Cecelia (Welter) Bigelow. She married her beloved husband, Leonard W. Biedermann, on May 8, 1948, in Lombard, Ill. In 1961 they moved to their farm in Woodstock, where they raised their five children.

Helen was a devout Catholic and a devoted and loving wife and mother. Once her own kids were in school, she began a long career sharing her love for children as librarian at Greenwood School, and as a teacher’s aide at the Special Education District of McHenry County. She was a member of the Greenwood Homemakers, the Greenwood Welcome Wagon, and could always be found lending a hand to the Greenwood 4-H Club.

Helen and Len spent many happy years as active members of their square dancing and art clubs. Helen was a talented artist, and her paintings are enjoyed to this day by many of her friends and family members. Most importantly, she and Len strove to instill a deep faith in God and unwavering love of our country in their children.

Helen is survived by her children, Chris (Bill) Walker of Farmington, Mich., Amy Halm of Lake Geneva, Wis., Janet (Ed) Hall of Lake Geneva, Wis., Bill (Penny) of Spring City, Tenn., and Geoff (Rose) of Hebron, Ill. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Len.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., in Woodstock. Holy Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock, 312 Lincoln Ave. Interment will follow in Christ The King Cemetery in Wonder Lake.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary Catholic Church would be appreciated.

The family wishes to send their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Hearthstone Manor. Mom was blessed to receive such tender and loving care.
