Hartzel H. Zimmerman

Hartzel H. Zimmerman, 66, Woodstock, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at JourneyCare Inpatient Hospice – Woodstock after a courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born Aug. 23, 1950, to Leo and Lucille (Hasty) Zimmerman in Woodstock.

On Aug. 23, 1991, he married Cathryn Capaccio.

He was a proud member of Local 150 Operator Engineers. After retirement he kept himself busy with many projects. He enjoyed the outdoors, going hunting and fishing as often as he could. He was a member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sara (Jim) Mark and April Zimmerman; a son, David Zimmerman, and stepson, Andy Klimczak; three grandchildren, Kaleigh Zimmerman, Klorissa Zimmerman and Trevor Mark; three brothers, Robert (Nancy), Clint (Margaret) and Chuck Zimmerman; three sisters, Shirley (Robert) Pittman, Judy Cole and Vickie (Ron) Wheeler; and his mother-in-law, Clara Capaccio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leo and William Zimmerman; three sisters, Carol Jean Zimmerman, Ethel Wilamena Zimmerman and Leona Fann.

Visitation was May 26 and the funeral was May 27 at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. Burial was at McHenry County Memorial Park.
