Genevieve Margaret Breitweiser, 68

Genevieve Margaret Breitweiser, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 68, on Sunday, April 30, 2023 after a valiant 16-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Genevieve, affectionately known as Jeanie, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 7, 1954, to Harold and June Elam.

She later married the love of her life, Edwin Paul Breitweiser, on December 22, 1979. Together, they raised three loving daughters, Theresa, Stephanie, and Monica.

With unwavering dedication and love, Genevieve selflessly devoted herself to her family, especially her grandchildren. Her kind and quiet nature combined with sense of humor, and most importantly faith in Christ endeared her to all who knew her.

Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and June Elam.  She leaves behind her loving husband, Edwin Paul Breitweiser of Lake in the Hills, and her daughters, Theresa (Beau) Zinkil of Woodstock, Stephanie (Justin) Ellingson of Algonquin, and Monica (Charlie) Philip of Schaumburg.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her grandchildren (Theresa and Beau’s sons), Andrew age 27, Colton age 21, and George age 12. (Stephanie and Justin’s children), Sabbath age 11 and Truly age 8, (Monica and Charlie’s son),and 16 month old, Aiden who have been left with lasting memories of her love, patience and grace. Genevieve was also blessed with the arrival of a great-granddaughter, Emelia Grace 17 months old, who brought her immense joy during her final months.

Jeanie loved watching the Cubs games with her husband Ed and also enjoyed crocheting and making blankets for all of her grandchildren, her legacy of kindness will live on within the hearts of all those who knew and loved her. Her unwavering faith in God, even in the face of adversity, was an inspiration to all. Her grace, gentle nature, and warm personality will be greatly missed, but her influence on those she loved will be celebrated and remembered for generations to come.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, from 4pm until 7pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E .Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.   A visitation will continue on Saturday morning from 10am until the time of a funeral service at 11am at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
