Fred J. Learman Jr., 58

Born: December 13th, 1964

Died: November 30th, 2023

Fred J. Learman Jr. passed away in his home on Nov. 30, 2023, with his wife, Diane, at his side. He was 58 years old.

Fred was born on Dec. 13, 1964 in DesPlaines, Ill., to Fred Sr. and Kathleen (Buffington) Learman. The oldest of four boys, Fred graduated from Woodstock High School in 1983. After graduation, Fred went on to complete trade school and his apprenticeship, becoming a plumber and soon after, a plumbing estimator. Fred was very proud of his work and spent over 10 years working at Sherman Mechanical before working the last 10 years at Jensen’s Plumbing and Heating.

On June 23, 1990, Fred married his high school sweetheart, Diane Paradowski. They celebrated 33 years of marriage just this past summer. In the early years, Fred and Diane enjoyed many travels of whitewater rafting, snowmobiling, and hiking. They continued to have a shared passion for the Chicago White Sox.

When their daughter, Nichole, was born, they enjoyed many family adventures that created lasting memories. A family man, Fred was full of pride with the young lady Nichole has become.

Fred carried on the long-standing Learman tradition of thinking he was the funniest guy in the world. He always laughed the hardest at his own jokes.

Fred took great pleasure and dignity in his garage full of tools. He was always willing to help his friends and family with any projects, and could build anything Diane could dream up, including a unique “catio” made especially for their many family cats. His favorite pastime was walking around Menards to plan his next creative venture.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Diane, and his daughter Nichole, as well as his mother, Kathy; brothers, Mike (Chris) and Steve Learman; and sister-in-law, Candy Learman.

He is further survived by his father- and mother-in-law, Matt and Louanna Paradowski; sister-in-law, Jenni (Randy) Funk; as well as nieces and nephews, Cayla (Zach), Michael (Lauren), Andrea (Michael), Amber (Peyton), R.J., Cameron, Ben, and Kate; and his goddaughter, Autumn Scanlan. In addition, Fred had several great-nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his father, Fred Sr., and his brother, Jason Learman.

The Learman family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Northwestern Medicine and all of Fred’s providers for the wonderful care he received during his difficult journey.
