Elaine L. Steinwehe, 83, Woodstock, died Monday, July 10, 2017, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry.
She was born Jan. 12, 1934, to Louis and Esther (Hermanson) Stieg in Woodstock.
On Sept. 24, 1955, she married her husband of 61 years, Robert “Dutch” Steinwehe in Woodstock.
She was a longtime member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock. She attended Rush – Copley Nursing College in Aurora, received her nursing degree and went to work in a career she loved, nursing. She loved being a nurse because she loved to help others. She always put the needs of others before her own.
She loved to travel, enjoying trips to Hawaii and other destinations. Cruises were her favorite and a great source of joy and fun.
She could enjoy a good cup of coffee as well as a good glass of wine.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Renee (Brian) Trei, Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Keith Steinwehe, Woodstock; and two grandchildren, Alexander and Nicholas Trei.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Russ Stieg.
The visitation and funeral were July 13 at Grace Lutheran Church. Interment was in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
