Duane A. Andes, 79

Duane A. Andes, age 79, of Woodstock, passed away Feb. 11, 2022, with his loving family by his side. 

He was born on May 19, 1942, in Maroa, Ill,, the son of Arthur and Marjorie (Bramel) Andes. He married Linda Reese on Nov. 17, 1962, at the First United Methodist Church in Woodstock.

Duane graduated from Woodstock High School in 1960. After high school, he joined the National Guard. In 1963 he started working for Commonwealth Edison working as a meter reader, eventually retiring in 1999 as an area foreman. Duane was a volunteer fireman and started the Bull Valley Junior High Bulldogs football team with his friends. He enjoyed laughing at a good joke almost as much as he liked to tell them. He enjoyed golfing, his daily 7 a.m. coffee clutch group, hanging out with his grandchildren, and spending time with family and friends. 

He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Shelly (Joe) Berta, Greg (Lisa Weatherman) Andes, and Rick (Kim) Andes; grandchildren, Derek (Kara) Brown, Brandon Andes, and Paige Berta; a sister, Alice Sanchez; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billy (Judy) Andes.

A memorial gathering will be held o Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL. The memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 201 W. South St., Woodstock IL. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park cemetery in Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Woodstock.
