Doris E. Anderson

Doris E. Anderson, 89, Woodstock, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock. 

She was born April 24, 1923, in Boyceville, Wis., to Peter E. and Ida Elise (Larson) Johnson.

On June 30, 1943, she married Raymond Groskinsky in Woodstock. He died July, 30, 1974. On Feb. 14, 1976, she married Clayton Anderson in Harvard. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard and the Harvard Women of the Moose. 

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and ceramics.

Survivors include three daughters, Norma (Charles) Lockwood, Harvard, Marcia (Glenn) Hanson, Harvard and Joanne (Frank) Hallberg, southern Illinois; three sons, Raymond (Karen) Groskinsky, Adams, Wis., Gerald (Barbara) Groskinsky, Harvard, and Dale (Susie) Groskinsky, Fond du Lac, Wis.; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Melvin Johnson, Boyceville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Raymond Groskinsky; her husband Clayton Anderson, Aug. 29, 2009; six brothers, Eldred, Raymond, Walter, Elmer, LaVerne and Melvin Johnson; and sister, Edna Nelson.

Visitation was Oct. 25 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, Harvard. The funeral was Oct. 26 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvard. The Revs. Herb Priester and David Rasmussen officiated. Interment was in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.

Vella Paulsen Houde

Vella Paulsen Houde, 88, of Hearthstone Manor, Woodstock, formerly of Woodbridge, Conn., died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Pepper Family Hospice Home in Barrington.

She was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Derby, Conn., to Anton and Metta (Hansen) Paulsen. On Aug. 17, 1964, she married Robert Houde.

She loved knitting, animals – especially dogs –  traveling and spending time on her farm in Connecticut. 

Survivors include a daughter, Joan (Richard) MacHarg, Evanston; four grandchildren, Heather Williams, Woodstock, Metta Williams, Seattle, Wash., Kate (Virgil) Hughes, Evanston, and Rose (Ted Lohman) MacHarg, Crownsville, Md.; two great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Ian Dawdy; and a brother, Burton Paulsen, Madison, Conn.

The memorial service and inurnment were private.
