Donna Mae Dobbratz, 88

Donna Mae Dobbratz (née Schuring), 88 of Woodstock, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Valley Hi Nursing Home in Woodstock.

She was born on Sept. 8, 1937, in Belvidere, Ill., to Lester and Irene (née Sawallisch) Schuring. She married Harold C. Dobbratz on Nov. 1, 1958, in Marengo, Ill.

Donna worked for Oak Industries in Crystal Lake and the Lampshade Factory in Woodstock until they closed, and she ended her career at Automatic Liquid Packaging in Woodstock. She was an avid milk glass collector and loved to show off her latest piece being prominently displayed. She enjoyed going to tractor shows and many other events, and going out to eat was always a special occasion. Donna was deeply loved and cherished by many extended family members and friends who called her mom and Grandma Donna. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her loving family and the ones she loved and deeply cherished as well.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Frank Sieroslawski Jr.) Hoffman; her brother, Charles (Rita) Schuring; her sister, Nancy Johnson; and her sister-in-law, Connie Schuring.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 42 years, Harold C. Dobbratz; her beloved son-in-law, John W. Hoffman; her sisters, Linda (Jack) Norris, and Karen (Keith) Ashby; her brother, Gerald Schuring; her brother-in-law, Julian Johnson; her nephews, Rick Johnson and John Miller; and an infant niece, Kali Anderson.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL 60098. Burial will be at McHenry County Memorial Park cemetery in Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the McHenry County Farm Bureau Foundation for the John Hoffman Memorial Scholarship Fund.

In October 2024, Donna moved into Valley Hi and quickly became a beloved part of their community. Her family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the nurses and staff there for all of their exceptional care.
