Diane M. Thurow

Diane M. Thurow, 88, Woodstock, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Hearthstone Manor, Woodstock.

She was born Nov. 10, 1928, to Erwin W. and Ingrid E. (Thorsen) Schulz in Chicago.

On Dec. 3, 1949, she married John O. Thurow in Chicago.

She was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5040 Auxiliary, Woodstock, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Marengo. She worked at Woodstock Auto Lite and the First National Bank of Woodstock for many years. She was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock. She loved helping by bringing communion to people in the hospital or nursing homes and cooking or baking for church functions or funeral luncheons. She volunteered at the gift shop at Woodstock Memorial Hospital for many years. She enjoyed traveling, family gatherings and spending time with those she loved.

Survivors include a sister, Betty Dusthimer; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews including: Susie, Sherry, Laurie, Jim, Amy, Pamela, Janet and Nancy; and she was godmother to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; a brother, Thomas Schulz; and a niece, Denise.

The visitation and funeral were June 24 at Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock. Burial was at McHenry County Memorial Park.
