David J. Nell, 67, Wonder Lake

David J. Nell, 67, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at JourneyCare Hospice Center, Woodstock.

He was born April 20, 1948, to Robert “Bud” and Marilyn (Hopp) Nell.

He married Susan Karamka.

He was a mold maker for more than 50 years and loved his work. He loved cars and working on cars, especially his 1972 purple Corvette. In his retirement, he loved watching movies; James Bond and John Wayne were his favorites. He loved playing video games and passed that passion down to his children.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years; four children, Ryan, Steven, Amber and Robert; and a granddaughter, Zooey; his mother; three sisters, Doris Barry, Rose Nellessen, Ruth (Tom) Wright; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, George; a brother-in-law, Butch Barry; and two nephews, Justin Wright and Bryan Barry.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. The visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral, Monday, April 4, at the funeral home. 

Burial will be at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
