Bruce A. Scheppa

Bruce A. Scheppa, 58, Wonder Lake, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Foster G. McGaw Hospital, Maywood, surrounded by his family.

He was born Jan. 17, 1954, in Tomah, Wis., to Alva and Dorothy (Betthauser) Scheppa. 

He grew up in the Wisconsin Rapids/Stevens Point area. 

On Aug. 11, 1973, he married Caroline C. Lewandowski at St. Bartholomew in Stevens Point, Wis., after graduating high school. 

They moved to Wonder Lake where they raised their family. 

He worked at Accura Tool and Mold in Crystal Lake for more than 25 years. He also worked at Foreman Tool and Mold in St. Charles until he left the job due to medical disability in 2002. 

For the past 10 years, he helped his wife and daughter at their home day care and was known as “Mr. Bruce.” 

He enjoyed interacting with the children and their families.

He was a devoted husband, loving father and friend to his children and a fun-loving grandfather who treasured his family and cherished spending time with them. 

He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, working on muscle cars and driving his vintage convertible. He was a wonderful family man and a friend to many and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Wonder Lake; a daughter, Jennifer (Dan) Walker, McHenry; two sons, Jared (Sarah) Scheppa and Jeremy (Daniel) Scheppa, both of Wonder Lake; five grandchildren, Travis, Jennalyn and Jillayna Walker and Naomee and Logan Scheppa; four sisters, Virginia (Louie) Halbersma, Helen (Art) Vinney, Carol (Brad) Long and Sharon (George) Livernash; two brothers, Robert Scheppa and Don (Velma) Scheppa,; and his mother-in-law, Maryann Lewandowski.

He was preceded in death by his parents;  a brother, Gary Scheppa; and his father-in-law, Raymond Lewandowski.

A memorial visitation will be held Sept. 22 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green St., McHenry.

Funeral arrangements are pending with  Colonial Funeral Home & Crematory, McHenry.
