Arnold F. Hay, 95, Woodstock, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013.
He was born in 1918 in Spring Grove.
On Sept. 20, 1941, he married Genevieve Ober at St. Mary’s Church in McHenry.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in New Caledonia, a Sergeant of 2nd Platoon, 584th Quartermaster. He was a member of VFW Post 5040 in Woodstock, a former member of the Moose Lodge and a member of Carpenters Local 2087 in Crystal Lake.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kathy Cassidy, Lake in the Hills, Marilyn (William) Christie, St. Petersburg, Fla., Barbara Reese, Clearwater, Fla.; a son, Arnold Hay Jr., Valkaria, Fla.; a brother Jack Hay, McHenry; four grandsons, Steve and Bob Cross, Bill Christie and Justin Reese; and two great-granddaughters, Riley and Laney Cross.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Donald, Robert, and LaVern Hay; four sisters, Jeanne Shaffer, Caroline Sorenson, Patsy Thomas and Evlen Hay; a daughter-in-law Joann Hay; and a brother-in-law, Glen Ober.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. The funeral service will follow the visitation. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
