Anna Ludwig

Anna Ludwig, 88, Wonder Lake, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, at JourneyCare Hospice Center, Woodstock. 

She was born to Mihaly and Anna (Komeiner) Mechler in Hungary.  

On Feb. 2, 1946, she married Steve Ludwig in Hungary. 

While growing up in Hungary, she was forced to leave school during the Depression after completing sixth grade to work in a factory to help support her family.  

She and her husband came to the United States in 1956. They lived in Danville for three years, Perrysville for four years and Chicago for 11 years.  She was a resident of Wonder Lake from 1974 until moving to Heritage Woods, McHenry, in 2011. 

A waitress for most of her career, Anna worked at the Bakery Restaurant in Chicago, the Woodstock Courthouse Inn and at the Chinese restaurant in Wonder Lake for 26 years.   She was a longtime member of Christ the King Church, Wonder Lake.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking and doing Hungarian crossword puzzles.

Survivors include two sons, Steve (Jeanne) Ludwig and Alex (Olga) Ludwig; two grandchildren, Tom and Anna Christina; and three great-grandchildren, Kathleen, Laura and Abigail.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Mihaly.

Visitation and funeral Mass were Feb. 25, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Wonder Lake. Interment was in Christ the King Cemetery. 

Funeral arrangements were made by Justen’s Wonder Lake Funeral Home, Wonder Lake.
