Alice Elizabeth Pfeiffer Deethardt

Alice Elizabeth Pfeiffer Deethardt, 89, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, in Littleton, Colo., after a short illness.  

She was born in Woodstock to Raymond Peter and Jessie Jewett Pfeiffer.  

She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1940 and spent a year at Ferry Hall Girls Preparatory  School in Lake Forest.  She graduated from Northwestern University in 1944.  She was an English teacher at Woodstock High School from 1944 to 1956, and a yearbook advisor for many years.  She was also a secretary of the Woodstock Players summer drama group at the Goodman School, Chicago, and served as an officer of the Woodstock Hospital Auxiliary and the Woodstock Garden Club and was a Red Cross charity volunteer.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, John F. Deethardt II, Denver; and two sons, John F. Deethardt III and Peter Deethardt, Denver.
