Rev. Jane Kunzie-Brunner


Jane Kunzie-Brunner, 67, of Lake Barrington, Ill., passed away gracefully on March 19, 2026, after a fierce and heroic battle with cancer. A former pastor at Lutheran Church of the Atonement of Barrington and Bethlehem Lutheran Church of St. Charles, she earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois (UIUC), a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, and a JD degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in Indiana.
Family meant everything to Jane. She is survived by her children, Kathryn Kunzie and Alex Brunner; her siblings, Julie (Kevin) Peters, Steve (Kim) Kunzie, Scott (Coleen) Kunzie, Tammy (Scott) Baier, Amy (Jeremy) Sangermano, and Laura (Adam) Monnier; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John, Judie, and Carlene Kunzie. Services have been held. Contributions in Jane’s name can be made to either Matthias Academy of Benet Lake, Wis., or Lutheran Social Services of Illinois.
