Alice (Graikowski) Van Landuyt, 92

Alice (Graikowski) Van Landuyt, of Woodstock passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at the age of 92 at Valley Hi Nursing & Rehab, Hartland.

She was born Aug. 13, 1932, to Stanley and Elizabeth (Overman) Graikowski in Stanley, Wis.  On November 4, 1950, she married John Van Landuyt in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Together they celebrated 55 years of marriage when John passed away in 2005. Alice was a faithful and long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Alice worked at Valley Hi in the dietary department for 15 years while at the same time she attended St. Louis University to become a certified dietary manager. She catered for many weddings, funerals, and events throughout McHenry County. Alice opened the kitchen at the brand-new facility formerly known as The Fountains at Crystal Lake. Alice rounded out her dietary career at Hearthstone Village.

For many years, Alice looked forward to her daily swims at the Woodstock Recreation Center, where she not only found joy in the water but also made lifelong friends.

Survivors include three daughters, Karen (William) Broten, Jean Kartje, and Mary (Patrick) Bauer; and four sons, David, Jeffrey (Maureen), Paul, and Allan (Lisa). She is also survived by two sisters, Elaine and Phyllis; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; son-in-law, John Kartje; brothers, Arthur, Gerald, and Danie; sister, Doris; and daughter, Lynda.

A special thank you to all the staff at Valley Hi Nursing and Rehab, who provided Alice with comfort and care during her nearly three years as a resident.Their kindness and dedication meant so much to her and to her family. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Journey Care Hospice for their support and compassion in her final days.

A memorial gathering will be held on Feb. 20, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave., Woodstock, IL, from 9 a.m. until the memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Woodstock.
